More Details about Quilt for Cancer Bee.

So glad you found me!! I have a sister-in-law who is 51 years old and has Stage IV metastatic sarcoma cancer. She is stable, but this experience has opened my eyes to how many people are suffering from this terrible disease, so I would like to start Quilts for Cancer.

If you are interested, I would love to hear about you, and a bit about the type of quilting you do. We have 5 members, but would like to have 12. The bee will run for 12 months, and each person will have her (or his) own month. The month's designee will pick out the colors and type of blocks (and keep in mind some of us are beginners!!) - and each member of the bee will make two blocks from her stash, each 12.5 inches, and send them to the leader that month, who will put them together and donate the quilt to a person with cancer or whatever cancer organization she chooses.

If this sounds like something you are interested in, please respond below, or on my blog,www.modernquiltguild.blogspot.com. I look forward to hearing from you!!

Finally finished!!

Lap quilt, 42 by 64, for sale on my site www.sevensistersgifts.com. Made with batiks and whites.

My newest discovery - Laurie Wisbrun and Scarlet Fig!!

Laurie makes a wonderful line of fabrics sold through Kaufman fabrics, but also self-produces her own line for a limited time - just until the end of January. I adore the whimsical nature of these fabrics!! The chairs and birds in the yellow palate just completely captivate me! You can find Laurie's shop here:

My new favorite fabrics!

They are from monaluna, and here they are:

I just love how fresh and fun they are! And they are organic cotton, so there is that, too!

Another quilt for cancer

I would like to make another quilt for cancer, preferably one made with others. If you are interested in donating a block, please let me know!

OK, this is how I envision it working. We can do this for 12 months if all are willing; if now, we can do it for a shorter period of time. I am willing to put each quilt together, but I think it would be nice if each person took a month and chose a theme. We can either use our own stashes or the person whose month it is can send out fabrics. I am good with it either way. If you would like to chime in, please do so! Thanks,
